Netflix watch party
Watch Netflix with friends in other places, at the same moment. Everyone presses play together, chats beside the video, and can talk on a free call.
TellyJam is coming to the Chrome Web Store soon.
Tested live on Netflix in Chrome. Play, pause and skips from either side were followed, with no stray pauses. Ad breaks on Netflix’s plan with ads have not come up in our tests yet.
Start a Netflix watch party
- Add TellyJam to Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer. It’s free, with no account.
- Open Netflix, pick a title and press play.
- Click TellyJam in your browser’s toolbar and choose Start a party. The chat opens beside the video. If you don’t see TellyJam, click the puzzle icon and pin it.
- Copy the invite link from the sidebar and send it to your friends in any app.
Join a party
- Open the invite link in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer.
- Choose Join the party. TellyJam opens the same title on Netflix in that tab and joins you in.
- No TellyJam yet? The invite page shows how to add it. Then come back and join with one click.
What you can do
- Press play, pause or skip once, and everyone follows within a fraction of a second.
- Chat beside the video, with emoji, replies and reactions that float over the picture.
- Free voice and video calls for up to 6 people, right in the sidebar.
- Start together with a 3, 2, 1 countdown, or let only hosts control playback.
- Polls, and a queue of titles everyone can vote on.
- Fullscreen with the chat still beside the picture.
- A refresh or a dropped connection doesn’t end the party. You rejoin as the same person.
- When the host moves on to the next episode, everyone follows.
Good to know
- Everyone needs their own Netflix account. TellyJam never streams, records or shares video.
- Netflix plays in the browser on a computer. To watch on a big screen, connect the computer to your TV.
- If the video shows that your browser needs a click, click Start watching.
Questions
Does everyone need their own Netflix account?
Yes. Each person watches on their own Netflix account, in their own browser. TellyJam keeps playback in sync and carries the chat.
Does it work with Netflix’s plan with ads?
It is built to. When someone reaches an ad, the party waits for them, then everyone resumes together. No Netflix ad break has come up in our tests yet, so this is not confirmed on Netflix. It is tested on Prime Video’s plan with ads.
Can we watch on a phone or a TV?
TellyJam runs in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer, which you can connect to a TV. During a party, you can use your phone as a remote and chat screen by scanning the code in the sidebar.
What happens at the end of an episode?
When the host moves on to the next episode, everyone else follows, and the party stays together.
Is it free?
Yes. TellyJam is free and needs no account, and calls for up to 6 people are free too.
